In mid-October, Sri Lanka will change its entry requirements, as confirmed by several Sri Lankan embassies, including those in France. Accordingly, from 15 October 2025, the previous option of obtaining a visa (Electronic Travel Authorisation, ETA) on arrival at the airport will be abolished. In the future, all travellers will have to apply for the ETA online via the official government website (eta.gov.lk) before departure. The ETA is usually confirmed by email within a few minutes or hours, is valid for six months and allows a maximum stay of 30 days. An extension can be applied for through local immigration authorities.
