From 8 November 2025, Thailand will tighten its alcohol laws, with travellers needing to be aware of one important change in particular: anyone drinking alcohol in licensed premises outside regular serving hours can be fined up to 10,000 baht (approx. €265). Whereas previously only establishments were penalized for late sales, the new law now also holds customers liable for consumption. The core closing times remain in place, usually from midnight to 11 am and 2 pm to 5 pm, although exceptions may apply to hotels, restaurants and certain entertainment zones.
